#5722, "Pyramid 9/15"

A friend of mine went to Pyramid float tubing today. We were throwing Anchovies for stripers in about 30 ft of watter and getting some 18-20 inch stripers.

I caught 1 about 18-19 inchs lost one I never saw and lost one that broke off just as I saw it, about 20-23in

He caught 2 18-20in stripers, 2 dink stripers (1 of the dinks was an amazing little fighter) and 1 SMALLMOUTH. I didn't know small mouth would hit a dead anchovie.

Time was 7:40-10:40 am and all fish were released (We were using circle hooks and onl one striper got gut hooked the others were all in the corner of the mouth. The one cut hook had the string cut and he was released)

Whole anchovies hooked right in the middle.

Pyramid is $7 per car to get in with no launch fee. They get the boaters by making it $14 or so for auto and trailer.

So if it's just you it's $7. Pretty good deal actually.

Sidenote: Avoid the weekends, we crossed the marina and it was like playing frogger

Me and a buddy fished the south end of the lake and were able to see the stripers cruising in about a foot of water. Bite was by no means like it was 3 weeks ago but we still caught 5 a piece. This time they wouldnt touch a spook but bit pretty good on some 5 inch shad broken back plugs we just finished last night. Also got a largemouth but it was only about a pound. At least the water was up so that helped the fishing. Only spotted 3 small boils but we were to far away to throw on them. Good Luck

Would you mind giving a quick lesson on how to fish for stripers with anchovies, i.e. setup, retrieve or not, etc?

Hook them in the middle of the body on a carolina rig and just cast out. Bring in the slack and wait...It's pretty boring rill the fish is actually on

I know that there are two entrances to Pyramid Lake. The one off of Vista Del Lago is closed the last time I check. Can you park and walk down there to fish? or would that be trespassing?

Thanks,

Mo
