#968, "fishing this weekend"

does anyone want to accompany me fishing this weekend? I am at UCSB, so any of the surrounding area would be fine with me. I have only been here for a couple weeks so I dont really know the spots.

If you dont want to come any tips on good places to go in a tube would be great thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Jason,
Normally I'd go with ya, but I've got ##### to do this weekend. The local spots are Goleta Beach, either end (by the slough, or the other end by the rocks) can be good for halibut. Campus point is a kayak spot and kinda tough to fish from a float tube as there is usually some swell and current and you gotta work to hold your position, but east of the point, along the coast down toward the stairs that come down to the beach is good. The harbor also has some halibut. Try the base of the wharf and the sandy flat that goes from there to the bait barge. There's usually some sandies on the pilings of the slips, if nothing else. Once it gets dark, there's usually some white seabass over by the bait barge. The white seabass have slowed quite a bit in the harbor. I don't know about the halibut. I haven't float tubed in a while. Once you get more familiar with the area, other spots to try are Ellwood, Haskell's, Naples, El Capitan and the oil island.
