Hey Gang I know the general groove here is yak and tube fishing,but thaught you guys might find this interesting,we took my boat CalicoHunterII out to Anacapa island friday and sunday,friday we landed 9 yellowtail for 20 hook ups,and sunday we landed 6 for 10 hook ups,most of the fish averaged 18-25lbs with one runt at 14lbs,all the fish on friday were caught on dropper loops,and sunday we got lots of hook ups on the yoyo iron.
The 50% landing ratio was due to hooking fish on the dropper loop deep within 50yrds of stucture and if they could pull much drag you were toast! fornatly we found that those fish are not line shy,we caught fish on line up to 60lb! 25-30lb was a joke unless you were yoyoing the iron,then if you hooked them midwater you at least had them coming.All the action took place from grey light 6:15am till about 7:30ish.If you want more details you can read my reports on allcoast sportfishings private boaters board..Larry

Sick report. Where was I thanksgiving weekend!!!

Sounds like way too much fun for me. I fished friday on the 6:30am 1/2 day on the Reel Fun for two 12" Calicoes.
