Now, that doesn’t mean the fishing rocked! It means we fished the rocks in Mission bay on this 25th day of November, the year of our Lord 2006. Well, I woke up this morning and I caught myself a fish. The future’s uncertain and the end is always near.
And so it came to pass, that Stemroller, Forced, and the Bijou Cowboy all got to the ramp early and we were casting shortly after 5am. I got a nice sandy on my first cast. We hammered the rocks with TJWs and TSBs. The pre-sunrise bite was pretty good. We kept some of the fish in the live well for an after sunrise photo op. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/fishtricks/PictureorVideo144.jpg
We then fished all over the bay, mostly drifting about in short semi-controlled drifts. Fish were pretty scarce but we got a few. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/fishtricks/PictureorVideo147.jpg We were looking for WSB or Corvina usually. Sometimes we sought SBB and other times halibut. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/fishtricks/PictureorVideo145.jpg I did catch one halibut that was almost legal. He bit my finger tip when I was measuring him. I was bleeding all over the boat. Touche’ Mr.Hali touche’ . Ran into Hayseed and Lawman. Tom had a 2.4lb spotty(cough cough Spinbomb cough) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/fishtricks/PictureorVideo149.jpg Here’s another fish that came off the rocks in the afternoon. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/fishtricks/PictureorVideo150.jpg Almost all of our good fish came off of rocks. We caught almost nothing out in the middle.
I had a brief exchange of some unkind words with another boat this morning at the mouth of Quivera just after sunrise, If you are reading this Sirs, I apologize to you for my unpleasant behavior and to my friends who had to watch it.
