Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Charter boat during the week is the way to go if you can't get out any other way. SD harbor has some great spotted bay bass fishing as well. You can rent a small boat and fish in the harbor. All you need is heavier freshwater bass gear and some 4" Hammers.

I just got back from a convention in SD, and managed to sneak off to fish. If you can't get offshore...just roll out hwy 8 to the beaches, take the turn off for Quivera and go to Seaforth Landing next to the Hyatt Islandia. Over the years I've caught sandies, Spotties, and halis off the jetty in front of the Hyatt. But this yr I rented a yak, and paddled just around the corner to the bridge pilings and stuck many fish on dropshot and swimbaits, and broke off something of size on 10lb test all in 3 hours. You can also rent skiffs w/ outboards from Seaforth, jig live bait, etc. I hear SD bay has bigger and more spotties(I live in SF), but the Seaforth run is super easy....15 min from the convention center...ck it out!
