Launch and Return: Launched at Shelter about 6am, returned 12:30.
Totals: 20+ legals, many shorts. Probably 5:2 sand to spot
Baits: white/chart. Slip-jig w/ red pearl twin-tailed zipper. T-rigged 4.5" grub (oxblood w/purple and orange flake). T-rigged 5.75" shaker worms. D-shotted Beavertails and shakerworms (5.75" and 4").
Scent: mine
Conditions: tide was real low, going to a false high in the afternoon. Slow current. Clear until wind and current started, then it dirtied up a bit.Temp around 64ยบ. At launch time wind was a slight offshore. Unlike most days, we had no slow pickup in the onshore. It went to full-speed in about 20min. around 10am. Lots and lots of boat traffic.
Special Comments: Oxblood was good until sun was all the way up. Then it was light colors ( Orange Flash and Yellow/Orange Pearl w/lots of silver holo flake were best) until water dirtied more. Then oxblood w/purple vein did good. Best fish (2.5# spot) came on 4.5" Oxblood grub. Slip-jig took 4 or 5 fish, key is to have the hook point at end of skirt and to wind way into the fish when it hits, then swing.
Fished with Mike (OneRev), Ed W, (I call him Piling), Will B. (Billybud), Greg (Shex). Russ was also there, but I didn't get a chance to meet him. They all helped it to be a really fun day on the water. Special thanks to Ed for catching some blade fish. He made it easy for me to test the Slip-jig when the bass were eating the blade. Will and I also had some great conversation.
