#1207, "Trip reports."

Last Friday, 10am 1/2 day on Reel Fun out of Dana Wharf. It was reeeeeeaaaaal slow. 1 keeper Sandy on a 5" white Basstrix with white and red head, tipped with squid (sorry it was slow). Not even any shorts or Treefish or anything. Finished with a drift for Halibut. Not even a Lizard fish for the whole boat. The turkeys (Pelicans) were amazingly aggressive. You had to bait the hook facing the wheel house, and if they saw you coming from the tank the whole pack would follow you to your rod. Then they'd come back when they saw you winding in to change baits. At one point I had one hooked and 3 others hitting the bait left on the trap. Oh well at least I wasn't skunked.

Today, 3/4 day on Sea Horse out of Dana. Better. 5 or 6 keepers, couple shorts, and some striped tuna. All but one on swimbaits of various sizes and colors. The smelt pattern hammer seemed to get bit most. Things were slow, but a least there was some action, then we get a call from another boat that is starting to whack 'em (winter style mind you). So off we go for a 1/2 hour ride. Get there and watch these guys on the other boat hooking up regularly. We finally dropp the hook, and BAMM the bite shut down. I got one before it went dead. Wind was strong and kept changing directions. The boat swung all day, and we even at one point were pointing against both current and wind. Very weird conditions, but again, could've been worse. Especially for mid December.
