Fished Doheny Sunday. The morning produced only 2 dink beanies and one small wsp, all on nuclear worms. Decided to go make smelt in the afternoon. Got nada on the smelt. Just before sunset my dad decided to go use the last of the nuclear worms and ended up getting a nice 20" beanie. Ill try to post the pic later. Conditions were pretty bad. Lots of kelp in the water and and waves were pretty big. Made fishing pretty tough.

Kelp has been a hassle too at Salt Creek where I normally surffish. Because of this, I have been fishing the harbor side of the DP Long jetty some for catch/release Spotted Bay Bass and Spotfin Croaker. Also was able to catch/release a fun 17 inch Corbina on squid.

Nice work on the spotties, Todd- how far down the jetty are you fishing? As for Sunday, the DP reefs were producing in the afternoon, super fun on the incoming tide and no crowd to speak of, except a few guys at Whitey's-

...didn't surf due to the thundershowers...slopped things up. I need to get out there soon though! Have been fishing the beginning part of the jetty on the ocean side some for catch/release Sargo mostly although something broke me off on 12 pound...probably a nice bass. I fish the beginning on the harbor side too right past the sandbar where it drops off...some corbs cruise there (and spotfin croaker and small spotties) which can be fun to sight fish.

Cool, thanks, Todd- spotties in DP Harbor are a trip- that lightning the other night was nuts, blew out the port in my modem from the surge, and my neighbor's as well.
