#14478, "They're back...."

The other day my daughter and I snorkeled Zuniga jetty and I got the fever big time. Been fishing almost exclusively topwater lately both fresh and salt. Wanted to do something a little different so I made myself some black jigs and went to Zuniga at 4am. First cast with a 1/2oz TJW hooked a NICE fish and lost him to the rocks on 12lb test. Switch over to a 3/4oz and 15lb test. Caught some really nice calicos in the dark. Then right at sun up, I hooked something heavy. At first I thought I had an angel shark, then a hali. Nope….8lb Sandbass!!! My new personal best sandy.

Water was crystal clear and 59 degrees(yes 59). The sandies are home from TJ. Once the sun came out and the tide was rippin I switched to a 1.5oz Spinbomb and slaughtered the fatted sandies slow rolling over the deep holes and current eddies around the jetty. Lost a couple of nice toads today too, both off the rocks and off the sand. I didn’t fish inside the bay, but I’m guessing it’s ripe for sandbassin.

Dear friends please note; Currently my entire internet existence is a desktop Email box. Although I am out of town most of the time lately I leave it open.
