#14535, "Marina fishing?"

Does anyone fish inside the marina? I am thinking of fishing inside the Ventura marina while I am waiting out the Casitas thing. I would greatly appreciate any info or tips for fishing inside the harbor.

Peace

Rich

Channel Island harbor, The keys in from the harbor and the Ventura harbor and keys....I grew up in Camarillo and use to snorkel/scuba spear fish around the south side of Silver Strand. Always wondered how the fishing would be up into the keys around the docks. I would think you could fish blades and swimbaits in there for Bay Bass, Calicos, Hali's and who knows what else....Make sure to post a report, I think it would be cool to hear about.

I think I am going to fish inside the Ventura harbor. I was going to throw swimbaits. It will be a few days as I have to get my other boat ready, I am not in to putting the Ranger in the salt. I have a 15.5 ft Rinker that I am getting the water pump done on then I need to install a fishfinder and trim tabs. Then I will get at it and let you know how it goes.

Peace

Rich

CI Harbor is where you want to fish. Ventura Marina had a fish dieoff a few years ago and it has not fully recovered yet. But you can still catch some WSB near Daves fuel near the bait pens, mostly shorts tho.
CI has butts, calicos, sandies wsb. I have fished all over that harbor from the jettys. Hammers rule in that harbor. There are spots in that harbor for different species. Kidde beach is good for the butts, keepers too. Another option is to fish it at night for triple digit batrays

Nicco
Thanks I will try C.I. marina. This is going to be something I have never done and I will pick up some Big Hammers from Eric's. I do not really know what I am doing so any tips from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rich

Before the die-off in the Ventura Harbor, it was a GREAT spot for sand bass. There were a couple of years where I did not fish Lake Casitas during the spawn since the sand bass were going so good in Ventura. Hasn't been like that since...

I like the Bass Assassin/Zoom Super Flukes on a 5/0 back-weighted hook, 10 - 12 lb line.
