Allstar's becoming more and more popular. I've never fished one, but I can tell you what I DO know. The prices are fairly cheap, and the quality is good. It's one of those companies like Cameron or Castaway in the bass fishing world that makes a good rod, but nobody fishes em cause they've never heard the name brand and would rather stick with Loomis (or in this case Calstar or Seeker etc.). Shikari, Allstar, Lamiglas, are all companies that I'm sure make rods that right up to par with the big boys, but because they're not already widely used, people tend to shy away and stay with what they know is a good rod, like Calstar or Seeker. Allstar's prices are cheap making them a good rod for an entry level fisherman who wants a fairly decent rod but doesn't want to spend $250 on a custom wrapped Calstar. Maybe somebody here has fished one and owns a couple and can give some real feedback as far as quality, bang for your buck, etc. but about the best I can do is that I haven't really heard anything bad about them and a few guys swear they're just as good as the high end stuff, so it might be worth looking into further.

The first rod i wrapped and only SO FAR, which i finished on Saturday by the way, was an allstar. Overall, it is lighter weight then most rods that I own, OR could buy for the same price range in the store. I paid about $50 to make the whole thing including the guides, $10 bottle of finish, and everything. Pete sure hooked me up! Anyways, I really like it and fished it on sunday at Pismo pier and I tell ya what, it transmits the bite sooo well. The way it looks with metallic blue wraps, the lightweight of it, the great action, and am pleased overall. I have seen some of the factory rods, and think they are not bad either. I for one do not have $200+ to spend on a rod. I'd say get one and try it out!

Till Later,
Joel
To fish, or not to fish, what a stupid question!!

Had 1 a couple years ago, 15-40#. That one I sold, it kicked my a$$ on a couple of tails. Good bass rod though. Now have the 12-30#, and it's one of my favorites. Only con, that I know of is that the guide inserts sometimes pop out. But, that's more a Fuji problem, and always possible. Unless you get stainless guides. They are very reasonably priced, and perfect for the person looking to get a good rod and not pay Loomis prices.

What are planning on using it for? This should determine what you get.
