Does anyone have info on mounting a transducer to the hull of my Scrambler XT? It needs to be removable and I dont want a portable unit. Any input would help.
Thanks

On www.kayakfishing.com (maybe yakfishing.com) I read that the transducer can he mounted using the scupper holes in your XT. Basically, one mounts the transducer to a block of rubber or whatever, then run a long bolt through the block, up the scupper hole, adding a big washer and topping it off with a wing nut. I didn't like it extending below the hull and hanging up on kelp. I went with the glued-inside-the-hull approach on my Scrambler and it works great but it is not portable.

You can mount a "permanent" fish finder on a piece of wood and use straps to attach it to your kayak. For the transducer you can also buy one of those suction cup mounts for another 20 or 30 bucks and use it with a regular fish finder. For a battery go with a lead acid sealed battery. Look at the powersonic ones. Even try cabelas, fry's, or radio shack. Make sure you get a good trickle charger though.
Tight lines,
Adam
