Fished Newport today. I caught 7 spotties, and my first legal sandy in NP. Not too bad for 3 1/2 hrs. Water was pretty cold and the current was quite strong at times. Got 1 on smoke/sparkle and 3 on Oxblood Zipper worms, and 3 on the small Castaics. Those were fun fish as they were all on the sink, and hit softly. Felt like an acomplishment getting those. Unfortunately I had no good sized spotties, I think the sandy was tied for first. But it was good to be out on the water. Almost went for a 1/2 trip, but I'm glad I didn't.

Ed,
Sounds like somebody's turnin into a BASS fisherman!!! Zipper worms, castaics, barely detectable bites... These are all common symptoms. Nah, now ya know how much bass fishing can relate to saltwater as well.

Yeah, I know. I needed a replacement for the Wham as half my plastics were these. Thus I found the Zipper. Then I got sick of dealing with the reeds. Thus, the C-rig. Soft bites well, I'd rather be lucky than good. Did you see my post on the fresh board? I could definitely use some advice on crossing over.
