#9429, "sci 3/30/03"

John T. went out on Greg P.'s boat Saturday for a day of bass'n. About 8-10 pieces of mackerel were made prior to crossing the channel. The ride was quite easy. Arriving at SCI the conditions were no wind, clear water, little current and an out going tide. Not exactly the best conditions for calicos, so the decision was made to try halibut first.
Starting inside pyramid drifting with the mac's it looked to be a good day. Several huge hits from the ever so elusive "mystery fish". By 10:30 am the mystery fish had won the battle claiming all of the bait and one outfit.

The conditions hadn't change much but it was time to move on. Working the backside to NW harbor produced 35 bass mostly 2-3# with a handful of 4's, two 6's, and one 8.2#. Most of the fish hooked had company trying to take the bait out of the mouth of the hooked fish. John used 7" Mondo's with six different patterns, Greg used 8.5" Mondo's with smelt and mackerel pattern. The count was about equal. The big fish caught by John came on 7" Mondo with an old rainbow trout pattern (which now looks dark olive over light green).

All fish were released and lines were in at 3:30 pm. Not the best of days but better than working!!
