#5120, "Steelhead Rods for Big Baits???"

Greetings. Anybody here use salmon/steelhead rods for throwing the bigbaits? I just got a Calcutta TE 400 (used) but I don't have a matching stick yet. I also ordered a couple of Huddleston Deluxe's yesterday, the ROF 0 & 5 to try at Castaic Lower Lake. I do have an older Shimano Magnumlight 8' 12 - 25lb, 1/2 - 2 oz Steelhead rod, is this cool for throwing these baits with this reel or is it recommended against? I'd really hate losing $29 baits. Thank you much.

I use a G-loomis 932C rod for those baits. It's a great rod and is pretty light. It's 7'9" and is rated up to 5 ounces.

Good luck and good fishing.
