#3447, "My latest plea, INSANITY"

I'm pissed and I want to kill a pig (no, the hairy kind)! I tripped in one of the holes the keep digging out at Coyote and twisted my ankle. I can't actually hunt one out there, but what if one ate a bait with a treble attached to my heavy Tuna stick? What should I use for bait?
Tight lines,
Wade

I'm thinking an Uncle Josh Big Daddy pork frog. Or maybe a Gambler Bacon Rind. LOL.

There are literally hundreds of wild pigs that come down out of the hills and root for food near the lake. I'm sure that they are decimating the hibernating Crawdad population. They also dig up acorns and everywhere there might be food they've dug holes 6" to a foot deep. I do a lot of fishing at night after work so, you can imagine how much fun I have avoiding their pitfalls without turning on my light and scaring every bass in the area.
Tight lines,
Wade

You might check with the lake officials and find out what they have to say about it. I don't know what kind of recreation area Coyote is but certain areas that are controlled or overseen by the DFG will allow pig hunting, sometimes year around with a variance in areas where they are destroying property. Pig tags are cheap and they make good eating. Bow hunting for them is super fun, if you are into bow hunting I guess. I could bring my coon hound up there and let him have some fun with them at night.

I've already tried in the past to get hunting/depredation permission and the Santa Clara Co. P&R won't let you do it unless you are a licensed and bonded Large Animal Exterminator or something like that. Then you have to incenerate the carcasses and show proof of proper disposal. Ain't Liability insurance a wonderful thing...NOT!!!!!!!!!
People are hungry on the streets at Christmas, we have an over-abundance of quality meat on the hoof, and some idiot(s) decide "No, we can't do that because someone might sue if they get sick." (read also, not said, but inferred: "...might sue if they get hurt by a stray arrow or bullet.") I'd happily join Hunters for Hunger if I knew where to find a chapter and thought I could whack a pig for me and a pig for them each year.
Tight lines,
Wade
