It is called 'Wilson H2O Tape', and a guy at the ISE show told me it is excellent for wrapping rod handles, as it is pourus and provies and excellent "grippy" surface, even when wet with sweat or lake water.

BTW, I wrap all of my rod handles from day one. I mainly just wrap the reel seat area of the handle, so not only does it give me a nice grip on something other than the reel seat threads, but also, there is then no chance of the reel becoming loose during your fishing day, or while fighting a fish. If those don't sound like good enough reasons for you to do this too, just try it on one rod, and you will see how it makes your rod and reel feel like one solid piece ! I couldn't fish without it !

Oh ! This is for spinning rods of course. I always forget about you backlashers :-)

Peace,
Fish

Ps, While at the ISE show, I was carrying my G-Loomis micro-light with my little Okuma EF-15 spinning reel (to show it off, and to help me promote Okuma). So I am beside the casting tank and one of the Pro's gets a backlash during his seminar. I'm sure that was a bit embarrasing for him as it was..... So he says, "Well, that happens to everybody once in a while"....... Well, I just couldn't help myself as I raised my little spinning reel up in the air towards him and said, "Not me" :-) DOH ! Kind of funny to watch him squirm :-)

You can get that stuff from any sporting goods store that
sells quality tennis rackets. They come in different colors
and differnt thickness.
