Welcome to the forum Marshall...

I think the brown color is best because of the high amount of chipmunks in and around lakes. Hope this helps, and I hope some real experts will their voice their opinion.

I have a black rat. I bought it to fish on the delta and believed black would be best because of all of the muskrats out there. Also I plan to use it for night fishing and I like darker baits at night, althought somthing with a siloutte as big as the rat the color mostl ikly would not matter too much at night.

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous

While on the topic of the rat, i have a few questions...

what lakes in so cal have you been successful w/ the rat? what colors? Also, what kind of rodents are prevalent around the lakes in so cal.

Ive never noticed any rats or anything like that swimming in the water when ive been fishing...

any info is appreciated.

I own the grey rat and had a few hits on it last year during the middle of the day in a clear to semi-clear lake...

Generally speaking, any time your fishing clear water you want to stick to natural colors.Brown,gray,black...any of those should get the job done..Nathan
