Im going to DVL thursday (1st time). Hoping for some numbers and possibly a bigger fish. Is it mostly sight fishing right now? Are all the fish coming from beds? Any chance of slammer fish? Im also planning to spend a decent amount of time throwing the live trout softbait. How deep of water should i work with it? Any tips or reports for DVL are greatly appreciated.

thanks,
nate

Fish have been from 1 foot of water to 25. There has been some action on swimbaits (near the marina is a good starting spot for those) and soft plastic worms. The fish are in a definate prespawn mode with some fish on beds. As of last weekend, the bigguns were not on beds but were staged in deeper water waiting to come up. I would look into the back of coves and secondary points and give it a shot. You can catch fish on most colors with watermelon red&black flake and purples being the current favorites for some folks there. Diamond Valley is a bit different than alot of SoCal lakes as the fish will definately respond well to larger baits. Do not be afraid to throw a 7 inch or larger worm.
