#5950, "A Few Swimbait Questions"

1. I was wondering if it would be ok to use a Shimano Curado for throwing Swimbaits?

2. I was thinking of getting some of the 9" Osprey's and notice that they have one hook on their belly. Do you usually add a stinger hook on these baits or fish them right out of the package?

3. Has anyone tried the Rogue Swimbait Rods?

Thanks,
Elliott

Curado's will throw swimbaits fine I would suggest the 5:1 though. On the bigger swimbaits it is a good idea to add a stinger if you check the past posts you will see how most guy's do it. I have the rogue jr. swimbait rod and it is SICK very light!

Hey let that Bass go I wanna catch her some day

I've been using the curados for my swimbaits but I'll tell you that its not good for them. They just aren't designed to throw big baits for extended periods of time. I'm finally purchasing a bigger reel because its going to cost me more than its worth to get all my curados worked on.

I don't feel like the Curado 200 is large enough to make the long casts with 25lb. line that are needed in clear water. I did well with the Rago Live Trout and the 9" Stocker last year and got much more distance with the 300 & 400 size reels like the Catalas and Cardiffs. Good Luck, Bill Q.
