I am intersted in buying a set up for trout plugs. I have read Swimbait's article on this site and looked into the rods he discussed and they are a bit out of my price range. I was wondering if any one has used rods made for muskie fishing, they seem to be a logical chice for trout plugs because muskie plugs are about the same size. Any other sugestions on rods that won't make my wife go balistic when I give her the recipt will be a big help

i had the same problem, and here is what i did. i just got an 8 ft medium rod from cabelas, and when i got it, i cut it down one eyelength, and got a new tip top. it worked great. as for the reel, a catala 300 or abu 5500 will do fine. patrick

Thanks I was looking at that combo along with some of the muskie rods from Bass Pro Shops. Has anyone out there used a set up like this for throwing the "big wood"?
