#9461, "Another Triple Trout Question"

I wan to change out the hooks on my 6 inch TT. What size and brand/type hooks are the guys who are throwing this bait using for replacements? I lost 4 fish this weekend on the bait and I think the hooks might have had something to do with it.

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous

Hey John

I am actually changing the hooks on all my TT's also......Painted them....I think a Gammy one in the front and 2 in the back.....I know Rob likes a 1/O in the front and a 1 in the back on the 7 incher.

Hope it helps.....Also the owner hyper wire split rings.......I also like the Decoy snaps if you are going to use a snap...

John

I played around with different hooks and on the 6 inch bait I put a #2 owner on the front and a #4 on the back. I at first went with a 1/0 in front and a #1 and it did not swim very well at all. I then put a #1 in front and a #2 in back, it swam all right but they made the bait harder to wake. If I was fishing the bait deeper I would use that set up. I love this bait, but I need to get a larger one as this one is getting hammered by 14 inch fish all the time.

Dude, don't tempt me. I am actually saving my pennies right now for a Wake Bait Jr. I want a bigger TT but right now the Wake Bait fits into a niche that that I don't currently have filled with other baits.

What Split rings are you using.......Also, Do you use the 2x or just regualr round bend hooks?

Thanks

So It sounds like you ended up using the 2 in front and the 4 in back.....

Also, What size hooks and split rings does the 8 incher use.

Hyperwire split rings were already on the bait when I got it used. I used the 2X Owner hooks. No snap, better action without the snap.

Have you guy's tried gluing fins on them. Every fin you add changes the swim action.;-)
