Here is the response I recieved from Sir Dink.

Paul,

Your livewell will fit right in. I did the volume calculations and reworded the livewell requirements as follows.

SD

8. All tubes & kickboats must have a livewell. All bass shall be kept in a livewell. Livewells must meet or exceed the following dimensions: All livewells shall have a volume of approx. 5400 cu.in. minimum. Example; A floating livewell of 17-inch diameter, 24-inch height =5444 cu in. A Rectangular livewell of 22" x 17" x 15" would be 5610 cu in.

Homemade livewells must be pre-approved by the Tournament Official. This can be done via phone or e-mail. no stringers or floating chain baskets allowed.

Hey Gang,

The re-wording of rule #8 should qualify everyone and his brother. I re-worded it when I did the calculations on Pauls kickboat live well. which seems to be about the adv. size most of you use. Most of the tubers use floating baskets made from a laundry bag and a fun noodle. these serve us quite well and we release almost 100% live. The original dim. of 19x30 is the actual size of our wells and also the requiremewnt from SCBBC.

The main reason for the live well size requirement is to keep fish alive. I have no objections to wells of other size or shapes especially with air pumps. Just do the math WxHxL and if it is under our min. send me an e-mail with the dim. and I will see what I can do.

If you have a better idea or wording of the size requirement send it to me. For 3 months I asked for input from everyone, the only people who replyed were John and Andy, do I have couties or something? I have tryed to taylor this to fit everyone.

This is going to be a great series and those of you who choose not to fish it will miss out on a great time and some good memories. Not to mention giving Joey and John an open field.

Guys,

This more than adequately clarifies the rule. I can (and did) do the volume calculations but wanted to make sure that I could attend if I drove up there as the stated rule was pretty specific. Also when a livewell is out of the water there clearly needs to be a method for circulating fresh water through it. Everyone in our club has pumps for this but again I wanted to make sure there was a reasonable chance of participating.

Sorry to make a mountian out of a molehill; we all support the goal of releasing fish alive.

Clint
