#37515, "Who......Me?"

Sorry it has taken so long to post, my computer is a piece of crap. Thanx for another epic open. I love when a game plan works out. The first day I realy stuck to my guns, I cranked the shallows until the tide got low to where the weeds were exposed, picking up three small ones. Then I went to the jig and started to go to work. I found the fish, while pre-fishing, hanging out in very spicific areas at low tide. Every dock that had about four feet on the inside edge held fish. The trick was making that perfect, silent cast under the walkway and waiting for the fish to come get it. I was throwing a brown and black in a half oz. to keep contact with the bottom. Even though I only caught five they all culled. The second day I oared to the same stretch of docks, and started with a spook. The fish were eating it, but after a few small keepers I knew it wasn't going to get me the quality I needed. I pulled up to the same dock that had produced good fish the day before, made a good cast and one about 3 1/2 smashed my jig before it touched bottom. I turned around and pitched the jig to the next dock, the instant my lure hit the water it looked like some one flushed a toilette. I thought it was a MONSTER, honestly I still can't believe a three could move that much water. Oh, well, it got my heart started again. The rest of the day I prety much hung out in that area throwing jigs and crankin the outside of the docks. I knew my spot was getting hammered all day, so I just bided my time until the tide was right. Finally I made the row up to the gap around eleven. I had intended on crankin, but I had caught the fabric handle on my boat, my favorite speed trap was dangling about four feet away. So I tossed a jig up in the tullies and shimmied my way out to my bait with a pair of scissors. I cut it out, retied and checked the clock 11:25, not much time. I made a long cast parallel to the weed edge and started bringing it back, the bait was ticking off the top of the weeds just right, then it pulled into a clump, I ripped it out hard and as soon as it cleared the weeds a fish just anhialated it. I thought it was a stiper when the fish made a long, powerfull first run, but then it dove into some weeds and I knew it was a largemouth. This girl was no more than ten feet from last years' big fish, same fish, I dought it, but intersting none the less. I kept the speed trap I hooked her on as a soivenier, she destroyed it, 4 of 6 hooks were bent, 1/3 of the paint is gone and there is a crack from the bill past the first hook, it was worth $3.99.

Congrats on the win Jeremy! I was wondering how you caught that big one. When I got that 8+ on the Wadda jig I thought I had big fish for sure. NOT! I lost one over 3 and missed two good bites in the morning on day 2 or else I might have been writing a report too...
