Have any of you guys ever fished the lake by Marine World in Vallejo? If so, does it have bass & is there decent access? I've been thinking of trying it & that lake just off I-80 near Fairfield & Vacaville.

I seem to recall some of the guys discussing that pond here (was it Mark Serrano, a.k.a. 'Ripalip'?). I believe the word was, there are some good fish to be caught there, but that's just a vague recollection. I think he said there was access on the back side, but I can't recall whether it was through a locked gate or what.
Hopefully, one of the guys who brought it up back then will see your post & respond.
In any case, check it out & let us know how you do!

Thanks, Jeff. There's some kind of city park on the side opposite Marine World. I called the City of Vallejo once, & they said using the lake was OK. I just hope there are bass in it.
The one just off I-80 - it's called something like Laguna Park - supposedly has some bass, too. The guy I talked to said it's shallow, very weedy in the summer, & has a lot of Sacramento perch (are those squawfish?).

Thanks, Mark. I was thinking of trying it sometime in March or April but wasn't sure if it was worth the drive (45 minutes from my house). Guess it's called Dan Foley Park? I used to drive by it everyday back when I was commuting & thought it looked like it might be worth a shot.

Andy,
They are actually in the sunfish family and have a body shape between a bass and bluegill. They tend to be yellow with a green back. They max size is usually only about 1-2 lbs but they are terrific eating and like bluegill, once you find a school you should score! Fish like you're going for bluegill or crappie and you should hookup.
