I've never fished there before, but my curiosity has been building over the past months. Have you heard much on the bass bite, or have you fished it yourself yet this year? I suppose smallmouths are the bigger ticket there, huh?

I've been considering hauling the Four Winns up thataway. What say you join me up there one of these days? (What's your new *work* schedule like now?).

I'm not lzyfish but I do know this lake

That lake can be a lot of fun. I actually one my 1st tournament in california at Pardee. It has some giant smallmouth and largemouth, but the LM are far and few between. The morning topwater can be awesome with the 20-30' water visability. I have seen fish come up 15-20' down and get 3ft+ of airtime on the topwater strike. i recommend trying it. If you do decide to go I can share some areas with you if you like

Just an FYI, I've had some nice largemouth (6-8 lbs) grab my trout when fishing with my Uncle in the past. One actually grabbed my little trout three times before giving up!

A funny story was my Uncle was fishing with a buddy and as they were bringing in a trout a 7lb bass followed all the way to the boat, then got netted by my Uncle (with the trout!)!!! I've spotted some bedders in there that had to be close to 10. Don't forget your swimbaits/trout plugs!

Lord knows, I have enough of them now, I think (well, but, then again...)! :D

Yeah, Pardee used to be my grandparents' favorite lake, but I never got up there with them. I need to see what they grew to love so much about the place.

'Preciate the input, guys!

I was just there on Sunday but only for a few hours in the evening to try the topwater bite. Needless to say, there was no bite at all for any of the three of us in the party. The water was higher than I'd ever seen in in 12 years. Like John mentioned, however, it can be a fun lake to fish. The smallies are the highlight but I have always caught more largemouth. Go figure!

I'd be more than happy to tag along if you come up this way. The picture below was posted last fall, my last catch at Pardee (4 lbs) until my next trip.

My brother-in-law was just up at Shasta at the end of April. He said the water was up as high as he's ever seen it there, too -- and he's been going for many years!

Alright! High water tends to improve the spawn results for the year, too, as a general rule, doesn't it? Cool! Lots more bass to harrass in the years to come!

Thanks for the input, Steve. I'll let you know when I plan to head up there.
