Wed of last week after work Joey and I went to a secret location and fished for about 3-1/2 hours. We fished some small ponds. The water seemed moderately stained and generally very cold. There was a small inlet in 1 pond that seemed to bring in a trickle that was slightly warmer to the touch. We had fished the rest of the ponds for about 2 hours before we made it to the trickle. Joey kept farming the few hits he got when we first arrived and after trying a few other things I finally got plowed on a Spit-n-image that had been stained Black. I set the hook and thought I had a nice 1# bass or so. It fought slower but more powerful than most little bass I've been getting lately. Well it wasn't a bass after all but a Crappie of about 1-1/2#. I was contemplating wether the pond could use to lose a crappie when the lure popped out as I was reaching to lip it. Oh well, I didn't feel like hassling with fish for dinner anyways. A few lure changes later I was throwing a Black Riverside ringed brush hog type plastic and was hit before it sunk a foot on the initial pitch. This bass gave a good fight with a little tail walking and some other splashy stuff. It was about 2 to 2-1/2# and a nice fish for what I've seen from the pond so far. A bit later Joey was saying I was spanking him and he needed something different so I offered him a Power tube Minnow and he tried it for a while and declared something to the effect "This won't catch fish" as he through it to where I'd set down my stuff. I picked it up and caught a 1# bass on the 1st cast with it. }( I threw it for another 1/2 hour and couldn't buy a bite. Meanwhile Joey abandoned the warm water inlet and proceeded to get 2 bass in less than 1/2 hour from areas I didn't think would be too good. We decided to call it quits and played kick the Cone like a couple of kids all the way back to my car. We must have looked "interesting" to any passersby doing this at midnight while carrying rods. It was cool to relax like that! Tight lines, Wade
