Is there a lot of difference between 8 foot and 9 foot pontoons?

about 1 foot:+ jk!
actualy i am sure the 9'ers will be more stable but imo are a bit overkill.Unless you are going to be doing some white water.I think the longer pontoons will be worse in the wind.

I downsized. I went from 9' to 8'. The main reason is convenience. The longer pontoons were just to hard to get in close. That 1' foot really does make a difference.

I just wanted to add that most of the 9 footers have a lot higher weight capacity. So that might be something to consider if you're a pretty big guy.
