Any words of advice or words of wisdom that I should know about the Delta before I get out there?
Like tides...I understand the tide comes in, the tide goes out. But, is this in any way a safety factor? Should I not go to a particular part of water because of a tide?
What about boat traffic? Should I try and stay a certain distance from shore, or go anywhere but just make sure I'm paying attention while going backwards :D
Having never fished the Delta I don't know what to expect. Once I'm there, I'll just fish it like I would any new spot...throw everyting I can till I get a bite :+

Safety for me is to keep an ear and an eye out for boats. Summer months are bad for the idiot wake/skiers. They seem to think racing towards you at high speeds to cut in front of you to try in spray water is cool. NOT! Facing the boat and waving a large rod with a big bait hanging some times detour them from being stupid.
Good and bad thing to remember while fishing the delta is every thing looks real fishy. Meaning: like there is so much stuff that looks real good to fish. Honestly everything! Wood, tullies, hyacinth, hydrilla, rip rap, sunken cars, you name it :) its here.
My advice of fishing the tides High tide fish up close Low tide fish outer edge Tides can work with you or against you. If planed right you can ride a tide one way then ride the tide back. Some days on the delta the wind and tides can be a real pain in returning back to your vehicle. x(
Flip and pitch to every pocket and structure. Jigs, senkos, delta money reaps. Fish top water all year long. Buzz baits, Bobby frogs, zerra spooks, minus 1, trixy shads, Rip, crank, spinner baits, swimbaits. Today fishing the delta I’m on a drop shot binge. I love about the delta is that you never know what you might catch.
You’ll have a blast.
Don't feed the sealions :P JC

the only thing i would add is that tides like Lake mentioned really dont matter that much in determining where you go, but it is a royal pain in the butt to row back towards weigh-in when you have to go against the tide and the wind, I've found if I'm only going against one of those forces its all good, but when you got both against you its a pain in the ass looking at the shore and rowing your butt off to only move a few inches. Ask Zaldain about rowing into the current and wind, it can screw ya if you don't watch the time. ;-) cz

Thanks for the heads up guys! That's the main reason I asked. I have a bad shoulder, so I already row like I'm 90 :o
