just found this board....it's awsome to hear about local areas.
here's my question(s): i'm thinking about getting a kick/pontoon boat. do you usually use fins while fishing from one or do you just row to where you want to be and drift/anchor?
do most of you stay seated when fishing? i've seen some have a platform for standing. i'm thinking this would also add a lot more weight.
do you actually pick these up and carry them? 60-70 lbs seems doable but the shape would make it pretty awkward to go any distance, not to mention a handfull of rods, lunch, and everything else you would take. i've seen/heard of people mention adding a wheel, is this what most of you do?
how fast are they to row? can you compare to a wood pram? way faster/easier than a 12 foot aluminum rowboat?

Yup, we use fins. They're like a trolling motor to kickboaters.
Most of us do sit while fishing.
Some guys have platforms to stand on and it can add extra weight. I use a 3/4" piece of plywood cut to fit/rest on the frame directly in front of the seat. The plywood doesn't weigh too much and can be stashed behind the seat when not in use. I really don't use it much though.
We do carry our boats but not very far. Once loaded with gear the boats get heavy fast. We'll carry the boat to the water then put our gear on it and launch.
Some guys have devised ways of adding wheels. A good hand truck with fat soft wheels is also a good option.
Rowing speed is comparable to a pram. Kayaks are faster but less manueverable. I've used my kick on rivers fishing for steelhead with no problem.

I was in the same boat you are when I found this site. Lots of good information. I recently purchased a boat, but haven't had a chance to put it together, let alone take it out. I can't wait to get out there!
