#27160, "...Rod Holders 4 Tubes and Kickboats"

Hello I am new here. I have a U-shaped tube for now and will buy a kickboat soon. I noticed most of the belly boaters on this site have rigged some really tight rod holders. I would like to do that to my tube and later to my kickboat. Can anyone give me some advice on how to hook one up on both the tube and the kickboat. Photos of their riggs would be appreciated also. Tight lines.

Thanks.....I looked at the pics but I am still unsure of how they are rigging it. Are they adding extra railing or attaching it to existing railing? I just need someone to explain in text how they did it.

when I was tubing I would just wrap a couple bungee cords around the tube and over the rod holder. On my kickboat I had a "t" of aluminum made and had them put a bracket on to mount it to the frame.Do some experamenting and I'm sure you will find the way thats best for you.

Another Idea that I use on my Caddis tube (when I use it) is....Go to your local Hardware store and get at least 3ea 12" long pieces of 1 1/4" PVC, 1ea bolt 5 or 6 inches long with nut, zip-ties, and Duck tape, and 2ea straps (long enough to go around your tube). Gettin the idea yet? The PVC is at your discrecion on how long to make it, but after you put the PVC together with Zipties and Duck tape, drill a hole through all three at the bottom (just so anything you hold in them can't fall through) and put the bolt and nut on. Then strap to your Tube....holds three poles no problem. Hope this helps. Sorry for no pics ...gotta get to work.

I bought this from cabelas for my Caddis Navigator. It worked great on my kick boat as well (16" diam. pontoons). I forgot they costed so much! (if anyone knows how to shorten this link, please let me know)

Sorry no photos yet, but I used electrical conduit (Gray PVC type) as it breaks down in UV slower than white PVC. I cut it and put "Tees" on the end of the piece then cut the Tee in half, leaving a "U" shape to the tees, put the u shape of the cut tees around my frame and attached with Stainless Hose Clamps.

Also painted pipes and fittings black to match my boat frame. This allowed me to mount a four pole holder (Black plastic one's - generic but think I got if from Cabellas) and use the top and bottom screw holes into the pipe and frame. Worked great. Hope that makes sense. Some day when I finish my disposable camera photos I will get them developed and posted so I can show people.

Good luck. Also, thought four holders would be enought, now want to get another two or three.

Like Y said. this is my set up.

This is what I have rigged in my kickboat. The oarholders I have modified so they serve as rod holders also. Will post new pictures when I get a chance.

Heres of picture of my ODC 816.

The rack is a little sloppy right now with the duct tape, but ive been meaning to glue it pretty soon. Works really good and is very easy to expand it to fit another rod onto it.

Hope this helps
