#28048, "BNT Rules / Clear Lake Open Questions"
Mon May-09-05 06:13 AM by yotopia

Two questions about the BNT rules for this weekends event.

1. Rule #6 - Missing from web page
2. Rule #7 - "must have live well" - Can I use a follow-me bag and if they are huge can I use two follow-me's?
3. Rule #15 - Can I have five fish and before I get to the weigh-in cull out the smallest leaving 4 total, at least 50' away from weigh-in. Can I only have a maximum of 4 fish in my possession at any time during the tournament?
4. Rule #21 - I think we will be launching after safe light, could someone confirm as I don't have a "white light", yet?

Thanks, and see you there!

John

PS: FYI, there are two #22 rules.

The #6 and 2 #22's just are typo's we had to do some changes to the website so thanks for catching that for us.

You can use a follow me bag and I don't see a reason why you can't have two follow me bags, better than clipping a big fish.

Once you have five fish in your possession and make a cast you are now in violation of the Department of Fish and Games no cull rule. What you need to do when you have four in the well and you catch one that will cull is put it in your well and pull out your small one and let it go before you start fishing again. The tourney director for everstarts basically said when you catch that fifth fish that will cull you don't do anything else until you only have four fish in the well again.

You should have the white light with ya even if we launch after whats technically safe light who knows if the fog is gonna roll in or what, so just grab a small head light at wl-mart i think there like ten bucks and they can be convenient around the campsite as well.
If I'm wrong about any of this I'm sure Paul or Lake will correct me and there the deciding factor on any of these issues.

Answers to your questions...

2. Rule #7 - "must have live well" - Can I use a follow-me
bag and if they are huge can I use two follow-me's?

A: yes, a follow me bag is OK

3. Rule #15 - Can I have five fish and before I get to the
weigh-in cull out the smallest leaving 4 total, at least 50'
away from weigh-in. Can I only have a maximum of 4 fish in my
possession at any time during the tournament?

A: NO, The rule reads...No participant shall have more than 4 fish in his possession at any time, and no culling of fish is allowed within 50 feet of the weigh-in site.

If you have 5 bass in your possesion CA DFG regs. state that you must stop fishing for bass. Continuing to do so would violate rule 2.

4. Rule #21 - I think we will be launching after safe light,
could someone confirm as I don't have a "white light", yet?

A: The white light rule is waived for "opens"

My daughter has her baptism sunday at 11.Is there anyway I could fish untill 9 that day.I can either weigh-in early if possible(i dont know if anybody will be around to do this)or pass my basket to one of my hommies untill weigh-in.Of course to be on the up and up I would find a member from the b-n-t staff and show them my fish if I have any to confirm what is there before i pass my basket and leave. Is this possible?
