#28730, "SCBBBC 7/16/05 Clear Lake Night Tournament Questions"

Hello everyone, and to those that fished Highland Springs, had a great time and good job to everyone!

I see that July 16th is the Clear Lake / County Park - Night Tournament. I want to camp possibly July 14th Thursday PM and leave Sunday July 17th afternoon. Would even like some camping buddies if anyone else wanted to hang out!

Does anyone have any suggestions where to camp on the water close or at the Launch Site for this tournament?

I currently show that launch will be at Liberty Park, 1 2nd St
Lakeport, CA 95453? Right? Never been!

John

John,

I believe we'll actually be launching at County Park which is a couple minute drive from State.

Looking at the map, it is about 8.1 miles from County Park in Lakeport to Clear Lake State Park, with driving time at about 18 min. if you do the speed limit.

Did not want to really drive 20 min. if I could avoid it for launch, but it sounds like County Park is a great place if that is the only option to camp on the water close to Lakeport?

Where have people stayed the night before a launch at County Park in Lakeport? This can not be the first time this question has come up??

I did search the www.reserveamerica.com site, there are only single spots left available for that weekend, and booking up quickly.

Hope to hear from those SCBBBC Camping Crew, what's your plans?

John

John,

County Park is just about a 5 minute drive from State Park. You may be thinking about Library Park in Lakeport. To get to County Park from the State Park, just get on Soda Bay Road toward Lakeport, just past the zig-zag in the road, turn right on Park Drive. Park Drive will dead end into the Lakeside County Park launch site. Look at this map from your website:

That shows the county Park location.

Thanks Travis. Being that I have never fished lots of the SCBBBC tournament locations before or even been there I seemed to have been lost and confused. Nothing like a quick kick, even my web site knows more than me. :7

With that said and your post, looks like State Park is the place to camp again. The group site is booked per www.reserveamerica.com. Anyone want to share a site for a couple of days before the tournament?
