#31586, "Kickboat setups"
|
Hey my name's Jay Bryant A.K.A. "welderdude", and I'm the guy with the ORIGINAL turntable rod rack and the first guy in the sonoma club to ever attatch a rod holder to a belly boat.To the gentleman inquiring about who I was, I just wanted to tell you my name since strangely it seems it was forgotten and not mentioned.Funny how that happens since I have been a member of the SCBBBC for 15 years and have been the innovator in tricking out U-boats/pontoon boats. Its funny they say that immitation is the highest form of flattery,so I guees I should be flattered that Bass Tech used 80% of my ideas. Over the years some of the ideas I have come up with,I have helped guys do to their boats too....I have always been more than willing to help anyone.I can remember actually guys laughing when they first saw alot of the things I did to my boats, but now here it is that most of my ideas showed up on Bass Tech. You can probably imagine why I might be alittle bitter, especially when guys over look me when questions come up about things I have designed. If anyone has questions about fabricating kickboats please ask ,I will check the forum more often. Thanks,Jay THANKS,WELDER DUDE.

I thought we were trying to keep our opinions to just .02! Just because you used to be a big shot shouldn't give you the right to throw in an extra .oo5. Boy, you rich guys...!

OK, this isn't exactly a 'spec,' but even as a rough graphic, I'm sure you get the point. I'm really imagining having 4 rods per side, resting on top of each pontoon; not sure what the best way to mount them would be.

I think that 'exhaust-pipe' appearance would be pretty cool-looking, not to mention keeping the rods from interfering as much as they might if they were standing straight up, as I have mine now. I'm guessing just plastic or PVC tubes (with finished edges), fastened to two (aluminum?) horizontal straps or flat tubes.
Again, they'd need to be pretty stable & securely held to the frame or pontoon. I'm kind of at a loss as to how to lock them down. Any ideas?
