1) I'm free of wife and kids. 2) There is a Solunar Peak. 3) It's 2 days before a full moon. 4) I haven't checked the tides, but I'm sure with the prior 2 factors that they are GREAT. 5) I may not have to work Friday, (but I probably will).
4 1/2 out of 5 is pretty AWESOME! Unfortunately I'm low on funds. So maybe that's 4 1/2 out of 6, still Awesome potential.
So, how should I spend my after work hours?

I'd go night fishing. First choice would be Coyote Lake. Calero or Los Banos Res might be good too.

Calero wasn't too bad last night.

I found out what not to do.
Lock my keys in the car at 5:45. DOH!
With all my fishing gear inside. DOH!
With Striper chasing shad in the slow moving Aquaduct. DOH!
Walk to the (not so) nearest actual house, a mile+ away, which didn't have a working phone. DOH!
Take the wire coat hanger they offered and put a scratch in my paint job. DOH!
Walk over to some guys that were fishing 200 yds up the Aquaduct at 8:35, who had a Cell phone and were there all along. DOH!
Call AAA to have a tow truck driver come unlock the car.
Watch as the tow truck driver drives up too fast, skidds past onto the bridge, (DOH!) backs up with lights shining on the water on 1 side of the bridge, scaring the fish even more (DOH!) and parks with the lights still on the water on the same side of the bridge scaring any that are left. Doh (Striper are still feeding lightly on other side of the bridge).
He unlocks the car by 9:15. Yeah
He backs around shining his lights on the other side of the bridge, scaring the fish on that side, (DOH!!!!!) and leaves.
Since he effectively put down every fish in that stretch, I decide to walk 1/4 mi to the water gates that are barely open. SWEET
At 9:40 I get to the gates and see that there are no surface feeding fish. Doh
I start to rig for bait on the bottom. 1oz should easily hold even the biggest frozen shad in place. At 9:43 I cast out. Cool
At 9:45 the Gates start to OPEN ALL THE WAY! DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I walk back to the car having decided to go to a spot I know on San Luis Res. I get there and down to the water by 10:50. I bait up and Cast. The cast catched on something behind me and I now have a lovely birds nest that's about the biggest I've ever had.
DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, Tight lines,
Wade
