I fished Whiskey Slough on Saturday... getting on the water late and fishing from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Nada on the black bass.
I did see a 5 foot striper that looked to be in the 50+ pound class lazily boil on some bait about 10 feet from me. That may explain the 30 - 40 bank fishermen. After seeing that beast, I switched fished a popper and pointer 100 for nada.
I was hoping to catch lightning in a bottle again. This beast was caught in 2008 on a NASCAR Popper, Rapala Skitter Pop, 1/2 oz., chartreuse & red (NASCAR colors).
But in all seriousness, if you're fishing Whiskey Slough, make a handful of casts with a spook / pencil popper / Luckycraft Pointer out in the middle of the channel before launching. That striper that I saw last week was the biggest I've ever seen.

Thanks for the report. 2 weeks ago my buddy and I also saw a ton of striper guys on the banks in Whiskey. The water didn't look good compared to other areas.
I'll try to get a report out when I go this Sunday. We found fish 2 weeks ago and last weekend my buddy got 3 during the TBF event. Hopefully we'll be on the for the WRL.
