Hey D.J., I have gone across the barrier when the tide is rippin out. There are two options... 1) Attempt to row across....which you can sometimes be sitting in the same spot rowing your heart out for well, ever not being able to get across. When the water is comin downhill off the barrier there is almost no rowing across...
opting towards #2...
2) Row up to the barrier so the tide is not pushing you, (there is usually a back eddy), and get up against the barrier. You can then get out and walk across the part of the barrier that has water on it and float your boat(or drag if real low) across. I have done this both directions, against a rippin incoming when trying to leave, or agaisnt an incoming trying to get there and it works fine. Of course you want to be careful and watch your footing, but it has worked great everytime. Also D.J, the 29th is teams so if both guys are goin the same direction then one can give the other a hand...
