Hey All,

First I'd like to thank the guys running the event Mitch, Steve and Rob, every one who placed and all the new and old faces that came to play.

I think that was the windiest day for me in a kickboat, the main lake was so windy I could only get a foot per row into the wind and had waves come over my tunes a few times. I saw bass boats attempt the windy main lake and then quickly retreat back towards capell. Wind made feeling and controlling my bait difficult and kept me off and out of places I would have rather fished.

It was a mild morning and I quickly shed my down jacket and gloves. the morning sky seemed to be clear, the water temp was around 53 and the visability was 1-3ft. Mitch called time and I started out towards the main lake. My first stop was a rocky point that stepped down to 30ft rather quickly I caught 2 off of it and bhung around for about an hour. on my way over I noticed that there were only a couple of boats heading out and felt some comfort in that, knowing I would have most of the area to myself. I saw Scott Bernardo kicking up the rocky bank on the Steele park peninsula, he warned me that it was windy out there and I jokingly hollered back that I'm going out where the real men fish. I came around the point and saw Nick fishing a crank and asked if I could fish the other side of the point. He said yea and I picked up my 3rd on a jig. I saw Scott coming around the corner and they made a move to east. A little later I got what seemed like a good bite but lost it when I checked if it was a rock or noT, that's how I could tell it was a good fish cause it didn't move, I just had a poor hookset and that fish would haunt me the rest of the day. I hopped over to the other point and got bites, the kind that feel like the fish are hitting it I missed a bunch of them, I'd wait tap tap tap go to swing and nothing was there it was frustrating. I went towards the old Spanish flat launch for a couple more fish before I headed back to weigh in, luckily the wind was to my back and it was an easy row. I though that for sure guys would be killin the smallies back closer to the ramp. Got back to weigh in and started to hear that the weights had been low and was able to hold on by a thread for the W. Thx guys see you at salt springs.

Good Report Dan

My report was simple, i had fished the prefished Berry 3 weeks before with Sal and son :). I found a rock wall that i graphed alot of fish on but they wouldn't bite anything. So that morning i made way to the rockwall to find Oscar fishing it. I asked Oscar if i could fish through and hit the point i wanted to fish. I pulled about 10 to 12 fish right at 17ft drop. Drop-shot them out and culled up. I enjoyed the guy in the boat try to fish out of my live-well and almost running Oscar down with his trolling motor.

It was great to be back in the boat again and see all you guys. Great turnout! The boat with the running lights was crazy!

I was excited to fish but have never done well at Berryessa so my expectations were low. I knew that the cove was going to be packed so I braved the wind and went down the cove to the right. Skiers cove I think. It was white capping straight down the cove the whole day but I was alone. I started on the rock wall about 100 yards down. The first cast to the wall I was taught a lesson in using 6lb test on my drop shot. The bite felt really strong and once I set the hook it took off! Just as it got close to the boat it took another run and snapped. I was crushed but after seeing Dan catch his first two and that one I knew they were bitting. i moved down the wall and saw fish on my graph and dropped to them. I got my first fish and it was a chubby 3.5 largie. i bounced back and forth from side to side fishing with my back to the wind all day and was catching quality fish but just could not get the last one. I am happy with top 5 for my first tourney of the year and I cant wait til the next one. See ya there!
