#9170, "Windsor Gravel Pit Report"

Travis "Give Me a T for Texas" Tarver & I fished one of the gravel pit lakes on Saturday afternoon/evening. We combined to catch about 30 fish (Mr. T caught 2/3 of them). Bass went for the usual stuff - flipping jigs & plastics, blades, cranks, etc. Travis did catch a couple on buzzbaits, & we each had a blowup or two on frogs. We each caught one of about 4 lbs, & Travis had 2 others for around 3 lbs each, & I had one more for about 2.5 lbs. The lake is loaded with bluegill - huge schools of them. By the way, for you locals - the security guard has returned & ran off a mountain biker while we were getting ready to fish.

Andy Do you have a key to get in safely ? If so, when are we going big daddy ? Matt and I are wanting to fish there with out wondering if we're going to be shot or my truck broken into while parking on that road. We have gas money, hell, we even have the truck to pick you up in and take you to have some food afterwards on us. Rich

No prob, amigo. Give me a call sometime & we'll figure something out. I can't do it this weekend, but maybe the next or the following, real early for a few hours? The morning bite out there I've usually found to be the best, although there were plenty of fish around last Saturday afternoon/evening.
Those lakes are a lot of fun. Let's get Matty & do it. I enjoyed fishing with Travis, too. Darn guy had to go and outfish me, though. Well, you know these youngsters, Rich. Always have to go & show us grumpy old-timers a thing or two.

Hey, that was a fun afternoon of fishin! Thanks for the invite. I wish those frog fish would have stuck, but all in all, it was terrific way to spend the afternoon. I hope when that place opens up as a park that they mandate catch and release only for the bass in there.

They are in the North Bay a little over an hour north of San Francisco. If you know where Santa Rosa is it is a little beyond there near the city of Windsor.
Where are you from Derek?
