Lake looks amazing right now. Fuller than I have seen it in years. I don't remember the last time you could go as far up the creek in wittenberg as I was able to yesterday. Almost makes me want to bust the float tube out for old times sake.
The fishing was pretty decent. Nothing big, but fun fishing. I spent a lot of time just outside wittenberg and only caught one small one flipping a tree. Towards the back of the creek, I was able to get 4 fish with two around 3lbs maybe.
They all came on a new bait I threw for the first time yesterday, the Strike king, king shad. I happened to be in a Dallas BPS during an ice storm on Super Bowl weekend and decided it would be a good idea to buy that little lure. I have to say I like the bait. You can fish it through brush the same way you would a spinnerbait, and it rarely got snagged. It also looks very shad like in the water, which the lopez bass are always suckers for. It'll probably be a fun little bait all the way through fall.
Here's a pic I took when water level was low. That big flat is under 13-20+ plus feet of water now. http://www.calfishing.com/dc/user_files/8516-7813-lopez.jpg
