Ok guys, I know Brian came close the other night so who's going to be the one to boat the first seabass of the season in the harbor? My money is on Brian to do it. So Pete that's your challenge =)
If I was down there it would be green sardine vs. fastrac just like old times. Lets see who hooks 'em up!

Oh it's on!!! Pete's goin tomorrow night I know, I might have to join him just to hold my own... I went last night with Brandon but never got around to posting. He got bit a couple times (once right at the boat which leads me to believe you know what...) but I never got touched. Part of this could've been because I'd stripped all the paint off my only 4" fastrac in order to repaint it white/red squiggle since I wasn't planning on fishing, but just as I get the last bit of paint off, ring ring. Brandon calls and we fish. Oh well. I threw the castaic swimbait and the 5" fastrac and the paintless 4" but to no avail. I'll probably fish on thursday, friday and saturday nights barring large amounts of homework or something, so I'll probably have Pete beat as far as time on the water, but we'll see. That guy's been known to catch a fish or two now and then...

Santa Barbara Harbor. There have been more and more legals every year for the past 4 years. We used to get nothing but shorts. Last year Brian got what ... a 13 and a 15 pounder? It was pretty good.

Yeah, I had a 10 a 13 and a 15. I heard of BIG fish under the marina 1 lights but only one account of one being hooked and it broke the guy off. We're talkin 30#+ fish... I was just lookin through the archives and the bite actually started later than I thought last year. We started catchin seabass on May 11 (remember that short that jumped out of the water?) but we didn't really fish it before then, so it could've started earlier. Man, I'm getting this weird twitch in one side of my face from seabass withdrawl...

Hmmm, could be interesting. Are we talking legals? Brian's definetely going to have more time on the water since I have a little 10 pound seabass at home to deal with :)

I'm with you Rob - I think the swimbaits are little more productive than the fastrac. I did really well last year on the Channel Islands Chovie color in the 6 - 7" models.

If I don't get one tonight it'll be tough.

Nope, none for me. It was really windy.

I fished 'em hard until around 8:00 and couldn't stand it any longer. I passed over the area many times and didn't chart anything. Who knows?

Go get 'em Brian - just save some for the rest of us!
