you told me in your response to accurate upgrades to be sure to grease the frames before installing the frames. why? is this to seal out saltwater?

It's to keep saltwater from getting between the aluminum frame & chromed sideplate rings & drying there. Mettalurgists can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it also helps prevent bimetallic corrosion? I take the stuff apart for cleaning once a year anyway.
