If you call 805-963-3564 you can get the live bait and fish report on a recording. I think the hours for the receiver vary, but I know that they almost always have live bait. When I called yesterday, the hours were 6am to noon for today.

bring a sabiki with real small hooks for smelt. halibut love em and theres usually a ton under the pier

Galeen's living out their temp. so you should be able to get bait almost any time of the day, from what he's told me.

does anyone know how the fishing is in the S.B. area? I would like to go out on a party boat but i can stand to rock fish all day.cant wait to here theyre wacking the yellowtails,checkerboards etc..then i will make a trip down there.thanks for any info.fished avila by private boat last week and caught a few halibut(krockodile caught all of em) in the harbor are.all were released most were shortys.
