Checked out a couple beaches this morning. Glassy, overcast with light drizzle. Bass bite was slow with only one sandy that was living in the rocks. Got it on a 5 inch big hammer in fongfish color. Several other bites but no hook ups. Water was a tad calm, wish it was stirred up more. Saw a couple guys doing well on large perch using mussels. Tons of sandcrabs everywhere--good hook bait size. Too bad I left the perching gear at home. Found a lone baby jack smelt stranded in a sandy pool--lucky for it I didn't have a live bait hook, lol. I was able to round it up and release it so it wouldn't fry as the sun got higher.

I hit the surf at Wisconsin St. in Oceanside last sunday morning with high exspectations because I was looking at a nice incoming tide of between 3-4 ft...overcast skies with a slight breeze out of the west at about 5-6 knots. Very little salad in the water and some nice little rips with discoloration and pockets that were filling up fast.
Sand Crabs were everywhere! I can't recall when I've seen so many and 90% of them with roe. Started off with the micro grubs and after the 3rd cast BAM! Yellowfin Croaker about 15". Fired up.
Deja Vu. Just like the the preceeding sunday... the bite turned off. Several micro perch no Corbs seen in the wash. Saw a few small Bat Rays cruizing tight inside the beach so I was watching where I stepped.
I casted some soft shell crabs parallel to the beach in the very shallow zone hoping I might incounter a rougue Grey Ghost but to no avail.

Hi guys, I think the fishing would have been better if the tide was not bottomed out minus low. It did allow me to get to rocks I normally couldn't due to high water. As I mentioned, a little too calm too, need a swell to stir it up a bit.
