What is everybody's favorite swimbaits for 10 feet and deeper? I don't hear alot about people really fishing the swimbaits very deep. I want to learn how to fish the big baits down deep for this summer. Thanks!

I've had the most luck with the Castaic sinking bait,not that it's the best but it sinks deep real fast and has alot of tail action.I think most of the "lead head" baits would work about the same. To get other baits that are'nt internaly weighted down deep,you'll have to let it sink to the bottom first and then go slloooowww.JMO's

Stocker trout moves real nice in the deeper depths. The 9" one especially (7" doesn't stay down as easily). Optimum is very easy to fish in these depths since it sinks like a stone. I've only caught one good one on Optimum, but it does draw some bites. But my favorite deep water swimbait is the 5" Big Hammer. So easy to fish, cheap to break off in the rocks/trees, and it covers the deeper depth ranges at a speed that is hard to move the other swimbaits at. Of course you're not going after the huge bite with a 5" bait usually, but I have caught one 10lber in about 15' of water on the big hammer.

I like the stocker trout best.

I need some recomendations guys. I live on the east coast and people over here just don't understand catch and release like yall do over there. What is the best way to let people become aware of what they do when they keep a big bass. Sure, lots of people release the smaller fish. But these guys over here catch a trophy and they keep it without second thought. It worries me and I look up to all ya'll californians for the way yall practice catch and release and see it's importance. I think the main problem over here is pure ignorance. If people were educated, I think they would make better decisions regarding trophy bass. Anyway, let me know if yall have some good ideas on making the public aware of how important big bass are to a fishery.

There are a few good ones out there like the Optimums and the sinking Castaics but overall the best bait for slow rolling in deep water is the Stocker Trout.

On the CPR issue I've gone to www.trophybassonly.com and found the article detailing some of the recaptures. I printed out a few copies and have them in a folder with a cover sheet that says Just Some Food for Thought. Remember, sugar will catch more flies than vinegar and most fishermen like to look at pictures of monster bass.
