#9377, "One Lure"

I just ordered a Rago Rat because I heard it is a great trophy lure. However, I don't remember seeing one picture in the archive of a large bass caught with a rat. Anyway it got me wondering.

If you could only use one style of lure for an entire year (for trophy fishing) what size, style, color, etc. would it be?

Nick

The Rago Rat is a great bait however I think its more a time of year deal. I like the bait in the spring and summer. I agree the Hudd is the best all around bait for your trophy needs. A jig is a good choice also.

The rat is a totally legit bait. I haven't heard of a lot of 10+ fish on the rat but it's 4-6lber candy. People haven't talked about the rat much lately but it's a bait that has won a lot of tournament money over the years.

The rat does catch fish, lots of fish. I have not caught a fish over 6 pounds on it but like Rob said it is killer on 3-5 pound fish.

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous

My PB on the rat is 8 pounds. Of course it had to be in practice for a tournament and not in the tournament. Lots of 3-6 pound fish on the rat for sure.
