Allstar's becoming more and more popular. I've never fished one, but I can tell you what I DO know. The prices are fairly cheap, and the quality is good. It's one of those companies like Cameron or Castaway in the bass fishing world that makes a good rod, but nobody fishes em cause they've never heard the name brand and would rather stick with Loomis (or in this case Calstar or Seeker etc.). Shikari, Allstar, Lamiglas, are all companies that I'm sure make rods that right up to par with the big boys, but because they're not already widely used, people tend to shy away and stay with what they know is a good rod, like Calstar or Seeker. Allstar's prices are cheap making them a good rod for an entry level fisherman who wants a fairly decent rod but doesn't want to spend $250 on a custom wrapped Calstar. Maybe somebody here has fished one and owns a couple and can give some real feedback as far as quality, bang for your buck, etc. but about the best I can do is that I haven't really heard anything bad about them and a few guys swear they're just as good as the high end stuff, so it might be worth looking into further. -Brian
