Last week I drug myself out of bed early a couple mornings to go float tubing before work. It's a lot of work to drive 30 or 40 minutes each way to go fish for 2 hours, but what the heck, the weather has been beautiful. I fished two different lakes and caught some decent fish, all sight fishing. I had a 5 and 5-4 on Monday, a 7-8 on Thursday, and a 6-4, 7-11, and 8-11 on Friday. I'm fishing 3 baits basically. An Assalt Ringer worm in watermelonseed (texas rig), a 5" Big Hammer in the Invader color, and an 8" Mission fish in chartreuses (Japan color). I've had some bags of these Assalt Ringer worms for years and never used them, but after giving a bag to my friend who doesn't fish much and helping him catch his first bass off a bed the week before with one, I thought hm, those actually look pretty good for bed fishing so I tried them this week myself and did pretty good on them.
Yesterday (Saturday) I fished all day in my boat and caught one 2lb bass. It was tough as nails. Win some lose some :)
Getting pics in the float tube is kinda tough, but what I have been doing is setting my camera on the shore or on a dock with the self timer and that works pretty well.
Next week I'll probably try one day in the tube, though I think this crazy never ending hot weather may finally break.
