#19223, "ABA Sonoma report, Russ & Rich Team"

We prefished on Saturday. It was a good thing that we did because if we didn't, we would have spend to much time in unproductive water on tourny day. We started off in the dry creek area and only caught one fish on a jig, Russ caught the fish and I missed one shortly after.Other than that the dry creek area sucked. So we hit the main lake and it sucked too.

At the end of the day we hit the warm springs area and found what we where looking for, BASS. So come Sunday morning we blasted off in the second flight, boat # 30. There was 58 teams I think and my goal was to be in the top 10. Russ nailed our first fish cranking within minutes. It was around 2.5. Then we both caught fish write and left. I also nailed my first Smallie at Sonoma, ya hoo. We culled that fish quickly with a 3 pound large mouth.

We are having a great day with a limit by I think 9 am or so. We culled a few times through out the day. Most boats we talked to had small limits or only a few fish. We're getting jacked as we feel we have a good chance at hitting the top 10. We ran into Benno and Todd during the last hour of the day and all of a sudden Russ has his rod bent over and he was requesting a net. BINGO, 4.93 POUNDER WAS HIS NAMEO. We cull again and rounded off the limit at 14.63 for five Sonoma fish.

All in all we placed #10, yea baby, $$$ We reached our goal. We worked on each others strong points and it payed off. Once again, prefishing was the key to us doing as well as we did. We caught fish on every thing almost, cranking, pithching jigs, splitshoting, ripping, drop shoting and blades. The weather was great and the water was a warm 59 + in most areas. I wonder what would have happened it I was in a round tube ? :+
