#1778, "Uploading movies"

Rob,

My wife and I got a new digital camera (Sony DSC-P71) as a wedding present. It obviously has alot of features that my old camera didn't have, like recording movies. My question is, is there any way of uploading movies on the site? I think that would be so cool to put up some short videos of releasing fish and things like that. Thanks

Well it would be nice, but disk space costs money, and I'm not going to start letting people upload big files like that.

I am just now in the process of moving the site to a different server, and I realized that there are about 80 megabytes of image files alone that people have uploaded over the years. When people have a hard time uploading a file, sometimes they upload it 3 or 8 or 10 times and some of those files on the old forum were really big. For the past 4 months I was paying an overlimit fee because the site was at 280 megs. I got it down to about 170 now with this new forum software, which is under my 200 meg limit, but I'm still working on ways to get it down even smaller. It may come to the point where people will have to use moment of fame to post pics a-la Allcoast and most of the other boards unfortunately :-(

On the other hand, if you can find somewhere to post the movies, post some links and let's see um!

Thats a good question, i was wondering the same thing. i just got a Cannon A40, which by the way is AWESOME for those shopping for a good entry level camera with all the features of the over priced cameras. If you find a place please let me know because i can take some pretty good lookin movies, now i just gotta find some fish to take movies and pics off. Hehe.....good luck out there!
